Alexa Pérez Rea

Alexa Perez Rea was born in 2000 in Mexico City, Mexico. Having dedicated herself to painting for a considerable period, her artistic journey has led her to develop a profound curiosity for alternative mediums, including performance, installation, and sculpture. Perez Rea's artistic interests embrace themes like architecture, the concept of “space”, and the exploration of how site-specific environments possibly influence human behavior.

From the outset, her works have incorporated the notion of drawing in space through techniques like resin-based line drawings, the construction of metal wire structures, and the manipulation of light and shadow. Presently, she is curious about how materials present in the work (wood, concrete, and metal) are also commonly found in modern architecture. However complex, she remains drawn to simpler materials like paper and light, employing them in their unadulterated forms.

She currently studies at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where she received a tuition scholarship and is expecting to graduate by Summer 2024 with a BFA.
